New Laptop Setup - Out of the Box Experience New Laptop Setup - Out of the Box Experience Task: This article will walk you through the setup of your brand new Laptop, from unboxing to your desktop.Use Case: This KB is intended for our end users who have received a brand new laptop, your first or a replacement! Prerequisites: Windows 11 | The screen shots in this KB were taking during a Windows 11 Machine setup. These visuals will be applicable to the Windows 11 OS. Safely remove the laptop from the box. If the PC was exposed to cold or hot weather, please let the Laptop reach room temperature before turning it on. Once you have turned your laptop on, you will be met with the first prompt, requesting you supply your preferred region. Select United States and then select "Yes" On the next screen, you can add a secondary keyboard layout. This will be un-necessary in our environment, select "skip". Now we will connect your PC to a local network. If you are on site, please connect to your Locations WIFI, if you are at home, please utilize your home WIFI. Important Note: For the best experience, do not use the guest option when on site. Once you have entered the password select connect, and then Next. Pro Tip: connect automatically but this is not critical. Your computer will begin to apply the necessary setup settings. The efficiency in which this process' will be dependent on your network speeds. Next up, you will need to supply your PyeBarker Email address and password. Please note, the format will always be firstname.lastname@pyebarkerfs.com When prompted to set up your finger print, select "skip for now". You will then be prompted to set up your windows hello pin. Select Ok in the bottom right hand corner. To proceed you will need to authenticate via your multifactor. If you have any issues with the authenticator app, select "I can't use my Microsoft authenticator app right now" you can then have a code text messaged to you. Next, you will need to create a 6 digit pin. Important Note: Please do not forget your password. The windows hello pin is for more efficient sign in's, and your password will still be required within our system. Please allow the laptop ~20mins upon the initial startup to apply settings, and launch your apps. Your laptop may even request a reboot before it will allow you to check for updates. Once you have done this please proceed to the next step. Now that your laptop is operational, it is likely behind on updates. You will need to search "Lenovo" In your search bar and select "Lenovo Commercial Vantage." The first time you launch Commercial Vantage you will need to accept the privacy and license agreements. Select "Check for system updates" Make sure the "select all" box is checked, and then select "update now". Please note your Laptop will need to remain plugged into the charger during this process, and will need to reboot once done. Lastly, we will need to ensure all windows updates are installed as well. In your search bar, type "Updates" and select "Check for Updates" Select "check for updates" and any needed will automatically download. Please note you will want to reboot your PC once these have installed as well. Outcome: Once you have completed these steps you will be brought back to your Windows Desktop, ready for your personalization!
